  • Ammerland Tour

For groups with their own bus

A local tour guide will meet you at the bus parking lot. He will accompany you on your bus through the Ammerland countryside. Admire the numerous tree nurseries, the moor, as well as forests and meadows, well-maintained parks with towering trees, and old farmhouses.

Our tour guide will show you the most beautiful spots in the Ammerland region in an entertaining way. Afterward, the ship’s crew will welcome you aboard for a cruise featuring a delicious lunch or tea and cake.

  • East Frisia Tour

    (western half – full day)

A trip to East Frisia through various Fehndörfer with their characteristic

the Fehn canals and towns such as Wiesmoor, Emden, and Aurich. In Greetsiel, a

In this idyllic fishing village, you’ll have some free time. As you stroll along the dike, you can not only enjoy the soothing sound of the North Sea waves,

but also spot the East Frisian islands of Juist and Norderney on the horizon.

From there, the route takes you back through the villages to Westerstede.

(the other half of the “East Frisian Peninsula”—full or half day)

The tour will take you to Jever (the castle and, if applicable, the brewery), Neuharlingersiel, and the coast; Wilhelmshaven is also on the itinerary. We’ll take a trip to the naval port. Otherwise, our tour guide will take you into the city, briefly to the South Beach area with Helgolandkai, and to the surrounding area.

Different tour guides—different tours: There is no set itinerary for our wonderful tours through Ammerland and East Frisia. However, we’re happy to incorporate your preferences into the plan.

  • Handcar Fun

The “bike on rails” offers a unique way to enjoy the diverse park landscape of Ammerland. Twelve bicycle railcars (4 people) and three club railcars (16 people) have been chugging back and forth on the disused track between Westerstede and the Ocholt district since 2006—from April 1 to October 15. Fun for four: Two people pedal vigorously while two sit on the bench and enjoy a leisurely ride through the beautiful natural idyll of Ammerland. There are a few rules for the rail bike ride, since everything here runs on a single track.

There are three stops along the seven-kilometer route where you can take a break. At the end of the track, simply turn the handcars around and you’re off back to the starting point. The handcar station is located on the grounds of the G. D. Boehlje Nursery in Westerstede, the oldest nursery in the Ammerland region with a tradition dating back over 160 years.
